On January 24, 2021, the Ministry of Energy of the new Bolivian government under President Luiz Arce and ACI Systems Alemania GmbH (ACISA) have resumed talks on lithium extraction and industrialization from residual brine at Salar de Uyuni. The aim is to revitalize the joint venture established on December 12, 2018.
